Panama City Neighborhoods, Locations and Districts

(Panama City, Florida - FL, USA)

Panama City is located on the outstanding St. Andrews Bay, facing the Gulf of Mexico, and offers a fantastic climate and wonderful beaches. Much of the city follows a grid pattern with organized central districts and a series of distinct neighborhoods, although the roads on the northern side of Panama City, sited towards the airport and beyond, tend to lose this basic structure.

The most popular districts are situated along the waterfront and these include Lynn Haven, Panama City Beach and the St. Andrew's Historic District, while downtown is a bustling metropolis with a small town atmosphere of its own.

Beaches

Most people come to the city for its beaches and there are over 27 miles / 43 km of white, sandy beaches in all. The city's best coastal offerings come in the form of both Panama City Beach and Laguna Beach, where water sports activities are endless and include snorkeling, scuba diving and fishing.

Downtown District

The downtown area is the business and shopping district of the city, with a plethora of gleaming skyscrapers and numerous shopping and dining options. Although a fairly large area, the downtown district of Panama City has a small town feel and is delightful for strolling. The area contains a number of beautifully restored buildings, along with quaint specialist shops and glitzy shopping malls, including the comprehensive Panama City Mall. St. Andrews Bay is also an easy stroll from the downtown area.

Lynn Haven

Situated to the north of the downtown district, Lynn Haven is a fairly affluent part of the city, with a beautiful location on the waterfront. Chief among the attractions here is the 1920 monument to Union veterans, dedicated to all US soldiers killed in battle. Lynn Haven is within easy reach of the airport and is only a few minutes from downtown.

Panama City Beach District

This seasonal part of Panama City is also the liveliest and most exciting, with mile upon mile of sandy beach and lots of attractions. The Beach district also boasts a long strip of bars, motels and amusement parks for the kids, as well as luxury hotels, quality golf courses and water sports galore.
